2017 is going to be the year that movie audiences at long, long last get to see the Justice League come together on the big screen. The bad news continues for Warner Bros., as the theatrical run of Justice League comes to an end - making it the lowest-grossing DCEU movie to date. Meant to be a blockbuster affair, Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s Justice League combined the efforts of the DCEU since 2013’s Man of Steel to unite the various standalone movies under one umbrella. Effectively, the DC version of The Avengers, there is a definite sense of irony that Whedon had a hand in both movies....

Hollywood simply refuses to let a franchise die. Despite two failed attempts at Jurassic Park sequels, Universal decided to reboot the series with the fourth installment in 2015. Jurassic World began with an interesting set up – a fully functional dinosaur park – but it didn’t take long before it devolved into another generic Jurassic sequel with another generic message about the military-industrial complex. Then, the sequel brought a “haunted house” plot to the proceedings....

Jurassic World may have resurrected the franchise with massive box office success and more dinosaurs than ever before, but it still doesn’t have a clue who its actual villains are. This is a problem that goes all the way back to the original Jurassic Park sequels and stops the franchise ever being able to do something truly novel. In the first movie, it’s quite simple: the dinosaurs are the threat. John Hammond has made an ethical error in bringing the creatures back to life, Nedry and Gennaro are both waylaid by greed (and pay a toothy price), and Dodgson, an employee of InGen’s rival, plots corporate espionage, but none of the humans are real antagonists....

Avalanche Studios just revealed another new game prior to E3, and it’s not Just Cause 4 as was rumored. Called Generation Zero, the studio’s latest game is a cooperative shooter set in an alternate history that takes place in 1980s Sweden. As the trailer above shows, the game puts players in battle against some terrifying robots both large and small. This is the second game that Avalanche Studios has revealed this month, and it might not be the last....

The debate around the Snyder Cut of Justice League continues to rage, particularly when it comes to the movie’s level of completion and how much it’ll cost to finish. The campaign to see it released recently launched an initiative at SDCC including billboards and an airplane banner along with nearly $15,000 (half of the campaign contributions) going to the Association for Suicide Prevention, bringing the total amount donated to the organization by Snyder fans to over $100,000....

National Geographic has announced its next scripted program will be a limited series adaptation of Richard Preston’s 1995 non-fiction book about the Ebola virus, The Hot Zone, starring Julianna Margulies. The project was picked up by NatGeo last year, but there hasn’t been any movement on it since. Now it seems that with its lead actor in place, the project is set to get filming underway this fall, with a projected 2019 premiere date planned....
