Josh Brolin absolutely loves playing the part of Thanos, and is eager to reprise the role in The Eternals. The villain was essentially the star of this year’s Avengers: Infinity War, which essentially inverted the Hero’s Journey to set Thanos up as the star of the film. And it seems Brolin is keen to return to the MCU, potentially even after 2019’s as-yet-untitled Avengers 4. It’s been an exciting year for Brolin, who starred in not one but two Marvel superhero movies....

Don’t believe the hype prophesying the death of plastic as smartphones with e-wallets take over. According to Juniper Research, only one in five smartphones will have an NFC chip by 2014, or 300 million devices. Half of these are expected to ship in the US and about one million will be sold in France this year, the research firm says. Director Colin Trevorrow says Jurassic World 3 won’t include any new hybrid dinosaurs. Technically speaking, of course, all the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies are “hybrid dinosaurs” in a sense. This was even addressed by the Henry Wu character in Jurassic World, when he pointed out both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World (the establishments) featured dinosaurs whose genomes include DNA from other animals. “Hybrid dinosaur”, in the context of the Jurassic movie franchise, specifically refers to dinosaurs that are the result of human scientists blending DNA from multiple dinosaurs and other creatures (ranging from cuttlefish to tree frogs), in order to create a brand-new type of dino....

While most of the attention as of late has been directed toward DC’s tumultuous live-action extended film universe and its ever-growing line-up of superheroic TV dramas, one shouldn’t forget about the equally robust world of direct-to-video animated films based on the company’s comic book properties. Jordan Peele’s horror-thriller Us will premiere at the 2019 SXSW Film Festival, ahead of its release in theaters.
