Now that Batman V Superman is only a month away (from the time of this writing), fans don’t have to wait much longer to see the two iconic DC heroes share the silver screen. Thanks to semi-official confirmation of the film’s 2.5 hour runtime, Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder’s next adventure in the DC Extended Universe won’t just see the physical and philosophical battle between Batman and Superman, Dawn of Justice will also be tasked with laying the foundation for the upcoming Justice League team-up movie - currently scheduled for November 2017 release.
For months, we’ve heard that key Justice League heroes could make an appearance in Batman V Superman; yet, it wasn’t clear how much or how little screen time characters like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, The Flash, and Cyborg would receive. The casting of each actor, well ahead of the beginning of Justice League production lead many fans to assume that the characters would enjoy more than just a cameo in Dawn of Justice but, while we know Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman will have a significant role, it has been suggested that the other heroes might have much smaller parts - leaving fans even more eager for any new scrap of information on the characters that have not, yet, been revealed.
Fortunately, Snyder hasn’t exactly been shy about sharing tantalizing teases with his followers on social media - and today the director unveiled a behind-the-scenes picture with Aquaman star Jason Mamoa on the Justice League set. The film begins shooting in just over a month, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the DC team-up’s actors are visiting the movie’s set. Given Snyder’s savvy use of his own Twitter account for the purpose of revealing various pieces of Batman V Superman marketing, it’s highly likely that the somewhat impromptu looking photo was a knowing tease - since the movie Flash and Aquaman suits can easily be picked-out on the left hand side (along with a pair of mysterious black costumes).

No doubt, the photo isn’t a particularly clear shot of The Flash suit but it is the first image that fans will have seen of the actual suit. The design has previously been teased in concept artwork - but, unless there’s some other explanation, Snyder’s tweet marks the official (albeit grainy) shot of the actual prop.

In addition, the photo also provides fans with a slightly clearer glimpse at the complete Aquaman suit; though, more detailed versions of the armor have been available in prior marketing materials. Still, Snyder had previously suggested that the costume shown in the jaw-dropping “Unite the Seven” promo image could see subtle changes before it was actually shown on the big screen.
The new photo doesn’t make any changes obvious to the naked eye but does afford viewers with a look at the full Atlantean hero’s costume (which had, previously, only been shown from the waist up). It’s also worth noting that, on the floor next to Aquaman’s foot, is concept artwork of the hero’s comic book love-interest/wife, Mera (rumored to be played by Amber Heard).
Lastly, the photo includes an undisclosed set of dark costumes in front of the Aquaman and Flash suits. There’s no way of knowing for sure exactly what the costumes will be used for in Justice League but, at first glance, fans could make one of several arguments: a yet-to-be-revealed Atlantean character, a corrupted Darkseid lackey, Aquaman villain Black Manta, or, possibly, a new Batsuit? Just because Batman opted for Frank Miller’s flexible grey and black design (followed by power armor) in Batman V Superman, doesn’t mean the hero might not decide on a light-weight armor compromise for Justice League.
