Cinematographer Fabian Wagner shares a behind-the-scenes clip of the Aquaman (Jason Momoa) rescue scene which was cut from Justice League. The two-year anniversary of the controversial Warner Bros. and DC film is fast approaching, and some of the people involved in its principal production are revealing new materials from their days of working in the project. The latest of which is a set video of filming a scene with Arthur Curry supposedly saving a distressed fisherman which ended up in the editing room floor.

Zack Snyder received sole directing credit for Justice League, but much of the work he did for the film didn’t make it to the theatrical cut. The director had to step away from the project due to personal tragedy. This paved the way for Joss Whedon to come in, man the extensive reshoots, and ultimately assemble the version of the movie that made it in cinemas. It didn’t take long after fans realized the discrepancy between what the movie was supposed to be and what became of it, hence, the Release the Snyder Cut movement was born. The petition asks Warner Bros. to release the original cut of the movie with Junkie XL’s (the initial composer before Danny Elfman stepped in) intended musical score. While there are no signs that the studio will be heeding this request, more content from the much-clamored cut makes its way online.

A new BTS video of Aquaman’s rescue scene for Justice League emerge online courtesy of Wagner. Taking it to his official Instagram account, the cinematographer shared the clip with the caption: “Shooting stormy seas on land with a huge inflatable greenscreen, some water, wind and 2 Arri 435’s on Technocranes.” Check out the clip below:

While the theatrical version of Justice League denied fans the opportunity to see this whole sequence play out, Arthur going on to save people in the seas was highlighted in James Wan’s Aquaman. This helped in better establishing the character who does good despite a hard exterior, making it easier for fans to be emotionally invested in his journey with his standalone film now the most successful DC movie to date, earning more than $1 billion at the global box office and earning a swift green light for Aquaman 2. However, despite a sequel already in the pipeline, the public will have to wait a little bit longer for it since it won’t be hitting theaters until the end of 2022.

As previously mentioned, Warner Bros. is showing no signs to heed to the request of the Release the Snyder Cut supporters. But with people involved in the movie, including Snyder himself, revealing snippets of the movie that didn’t make the theatrical cut, chances are that the fans will be persistent in demanding that they give in. How long it takes until the studio potentially gives way is another conversation, but with some personalities backing up the movement, it’s difficult to dismiss the possibility that the Snyder Cut of Justice League eventually see the light of day.
