Now filming in London and apparently Iceland, Justice League will assemble a team of DC’s finest to combat the interstellar menace of Steppenwolf and his Apokoliptian hordes. While fans are well familiar with three core members of the team – Batman, Wonder Woman, and of course the Man of Steel – the rest of the band has yet to be fully introduced to their DC Extended Universe audiences. The Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg, however, haven’t seen much action yet.

The forthcoming Justice League event will finally give the new team members some real screen time, though. In preparation for his step into the spotlight, Cyborg actor Ray Fisher has been getting into superhero form.

The actor recently took to Instagram to show off his Justice League physique. The shot, taken while working out, shows Fisher flexing his guns at the gym. He subtitles the intense image, saying “Half-Man, Half-Machine #BORGLIFE #JusticeLeague.” Check out the Cyborg in training below:

As the cosmic forces of Apokolips invade DCEU, Cyborg will unquestionably play a major role in the plot. His origin, at least in the movie world, was briefly explored in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. It involves his father Silas, a scientist at S.T.A.R. Labs, using a Mother Box to recreate his mortally wounded son, former football player Victor Stone, as Cyborg. As many comic fans are likely aware of, the Mother Boxes are Apokoliptian inventions of near infinite power, ones which their prior owners may be interested in retrieving.

It’s entirely possible that part of the plot will revolve around Darkseid’s general Steppenwolf heading to Earth to reclaim their prized technology, finish some old business with Earth, or both. Since Cyborg is essentially an Apokoliptian-human Frankenstein’s monster, his unique connection to the invading forces could serve as warning to the other Justice Leaguers – perhaps even drawing him to them. The less-than-civil warring extraterrestrials may also wish to reclaim all of their technology, whether or not it’s attached to someone.

No matter how he ties into the story, it’s exciting to see Victor Stone, a long time Leaguer and Teen Titan, finally get his due on the big screen. The superhero saga should also set Cyborg up perfectly for his solo shot as well, which lands less than a year after the exciting conclusion to the Justice League event.
