While The Avengers have dominated pop culture and box-office receipts for the past five years, arguably the world’s most recognizable super team is primed to step into the spotlight within a year’s time. Batman, Wonder Woman, and Superman have all had a very eventful 2016, and that was only the beginning as they prepare for the main stage with the Justice League feature film a year from now.

Next month Cartoon Network will set the superhero stage for younger (and surely) older fans as well, with their new series Justice League Action. The show is produced by Alan Burnett, Butch Lukic, and Jim Krieg for Warner Bros Animation and is the latest in the networks’s long history with DC Comics related shows, such as Teen Titans Go! and DC Nation Shorts. Their new upcoming series looks like it has the chance to be both a fun counterpart to the live-action DC Extended Universe and continue their tradition of lively animation.

Today, Cartoon Network released the first international trailer for Justice League Action, which manages to convey the show’s scope and tone. The trailer begins with the instantly recognizable voices of Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy, who return in their iconic roles of the Joker and Batman. After giving proper homage to the core of the Justice League, we get a glimpse of some of the other DC Comics’ characters who will be making appearances on the show, including the Flash, Firestorm, Zatanna, and more.

This past week a lot of details were revealed about the upcoming series. Each episode will be only 11 minutes long while featuring a wide variety of the DC Comics world. The premiere episode is titled, “Shazam Slam,” and will feature both Shazam and Black Adam.

Warner Bros is primed for an even bigger year in 2017 than this one. While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad didn’t prove to be unmitigated successes with fans and critics, both were profitable and laid the foundation for what’s to come. After over 75 long years, Wonder Woman is preparing to take center stage with the release of her first solo film in June. In November, she will then join the other heroes of the DCEU for the ultimate showdown in Zack Snyder’s eagerly awaited, Justice League.

It seems that Justice League Action is a prime place to acquaint younger audiences with many of the characters that we will be encountering in the live-action universe in the near future like Steppenwolf, Deathstroke, or even Booster Gold. However, in any case, its always comforting to know that the super friends will be back on the air and back in action.

Justice League Action debuts on December 16th, 2016 at 6 pm ET/PT on Cartoon Network.
