When will the new Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer release?

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom debuts a new trailer tomorrow, but has released some new posters today with some interesting taglines. The next film in the 25-year-old franchise has teased everything from terrifying new dinosaurs to a volcanic eruption on the island that should be enough to get anyone excited for the next entry jumping in their seats at the sound of every dinosaur roar.

The information that fans have about the film teases that after the destruction of the park in Jurassic World, a volcanic eruption threatens the safety of the dinosaurs on the island. Bryce Dallas Howard returns as Claire Dearing along with Chris Pratt as Owen Grady. Both have seemingly retired with Claire creating the Dinosaur Protection Group, an organization dedicated to protecting INGen’s creations. She enlists Grady to return to the island to help save the dinosaurs. Director J.A. Bayona has taken over from Jurassic World helmer Colin Trevorrow. Bayona took to Twitter to release a new poster to prepare fans for tomorrow’s trailer. It’s the US poster, and the UK’s version looks somewhat different.

The US poster depicts an image of the T-Rex standing behind one of the geospheres from the first film. It proudly declares, “The Park is Gone,” a play on the classic tagline from the original film: “The Park is Open.” Pratt, Howard, and newcomer Justice Smith (The Get Down) are featured prominently, hiding from the T-Rex’s wrath, their former “ally” in the previous film turned enemy in the wake of the force of nature behind it. It’s a grim change from the first film, which depicted Jurassic Park as an everyday part of life and a prominent vacation destination.

Its tagline is different from the UK’s version, however, which offers Ian Malcolm’s classic line, “Life Finds a Way” instead of the grim and finality of “The Park is Gone.” Both have their merits and both manage to capture the majesty and horror of the franchise. Both also depict the idea of science gone wrong and mankind’s futile attempts to control their natural environment, a prominent theme in the film.

The difference in poster taglines could have something to do with the connotations of “Park” in America versus the UK. While England has theme parks (notably Thorpe Park or Legoland Windsor Resort) the traditional term “park” refers to a more traditional park model, the sort with playground equipment, grass, and dog walking. While theme park seems to be a broader term in the United States, making “The Park is Gone” a more relatable tagline for American audiences, Universal Pictures clearly takes the semantics and differences in language very seriously.

Update: Another new poster has released alongside the FINAL Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom trailer:

Both taglines offer a very specific finality about the series. With fans speculating that the new dinosaur, the Indoraptor might have human DNA, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is taking fans out of the park setting. Gone is the park setting and the filmmakers involved seem to be turning towards far darker and far more serious stories about mankind tampering with the natural order.
