The lion is no longer king of the jungle in the latest Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom TV spot. The Jurassic World franchise is heading in an unexpected direction. Where the first trailer teased a rescue mission, the final Fallen Kingdom trailer revealed dark forces at play, as well as a genetically-engineered dinosaur that’s about to wreak havoc. All this is set against the backdrop of dinosaurs seemingly getting off the island, and into the wider world.

With the film slated to hit theaters in June, Universal seems to ramping up their marketing campaign. The studio has launched Jurassic Journals, a series of behind-the-scenes Jurassic World 2 videos that allow viewers to look behind the curtain. Meanwhile, the cast and crew are doing the rounds conducting interviews to promote the film. And now, it looks like even more promos are starting to debut.

Chris Pratt has just taken to social media to unveil the latest TV spot for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. While it includes a lot of footage from earlier trailers, the highlight is a gorgeous scene in which a lion faces off against a T-Rex. Take a look:

It’s a fascinating scene, not least because of the powerful imagery; it suggests that the Jurassic World franchise really is about to release the dinosaurs across the planet. Symbolically, the T-Rex is taking its place as the true king, roaring at the lion in a declaration of dominance. “We’re not on an island anymore,” Chris Pratt’s Owen observes. “This has to end.”

Of course, Owen’s desire to bring matters to an end will go unfulfilled. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the second installment in a trilogy, meaning the dinosaurs will definitely survive. Trailers and TV spots are continually teasing one line of dialogue; “Welcome to Jurassic World.” That seems to suggest Fallen Kingdom may, ultimately, see dinosaurs roaming the planet freely, and the third film could explore how humanity can either coexist with the dinosaurs or wipe them out.

This TV spot again features the terrifying threat of Fallen Kingdom’s Indoraptor, a lethal and ruthlessly intelligent dinosaur that seems far more intelligent than most. Universal’s marketing is focusing on one single scene, in which the Indoraptor makes its way into a little girl’s bedroom and slowly reaches out its claw. It’s the stuff of nightmares, with the Jurassic World franchise pivoting towards horror. The Indoraptor is undoubtedly the most fearsome creature ever seen in one of the Jurassic films, but thankfully, it seems to be the last of the hybrid dinosaurs. Director Colin Trevorrow has confirmed that there will be no “hybrid” dinosaurs in Jurassic World 3.
